Welcome to Scrap Space!

Your crew has been stranded in deep space, and it is up to you to help them survive by scavenging for food and water caches, and to expand the ship to help better defend yourself against hostile pirates that roam the void of space.

Controls

View Mode

[Move] - Relocate a crewmate to another part of the ship. Click on one of the green arrows to select a location to move to.

[Eat] - Give a crewmate a ration to eat. One ration fills up about a fourth of their hunger bar.

[Drink] - Give a crewmate water to drink. One water fills up about a fourth of their thirst bar.

[F] While hovering the cursor over a room - Toggle the room's power on and off. Only rooms that consume power may be turned on or off.

Build Mode

[Show Center of Mass] - Shows the ship's center of mass as a red dot.

[R] - Rotate part. Rotates the currently selected part, if applicable.

[Delete Parts] - Deletes selected parts from the ship. Make sure you have enough storage space to collect the items, or else you may lose some items. Destroyed storage containers will not drop their items.

Click on any other button on the side to select a part to place on the ship.

Pilot Mode

[WASD] - Move the ship. Make sure you have thrusters in all four directions!

[X] - Toggle Align with Rotation. This will make it so that the WASD movement will align with the direction your ship is currently facing.

[Z] - Toggle Thrust Dampeners. This will make your ship automatically slow itself down by applying thrust in the opposite direction that it is moving. This setting is automatically applied outside of Pilot Mode.

[F] - Fire weapons. All weapons that are currently enabled such as laser turrets and rocket batteries will all fire towards the mouse cursor.

[LeftShift] - Steer the Ship. If the ship has a reaction wheel, it will rotate itself towards the mouse. More reaction wheels adds more turning force.

General Tips

• Debris, asteroids and other objects only spawn when you are moving. You need to destroy debris to get materials to build your ship.
• Craft a refinery as soon as you can. This will allow you to get materials from asteroids.
• Beware of enemy ships, as they can range from minor inconveniences to major threats.
• You can rescue crewmates from larger pirate ships. More crewmates will increase the rate in which your ship repairs itself.
• If your ship goes dark, that means you have run out of power! Add more power sources or disable certain parts for your ship systems to start working again.
• The top speed for ships is 100m/s, however you should avoid going this fast most of the time. Running into stray asteroids can be devastating to your ship!
• Make sure your crewmates are well fed and given water. You can make them automatically eat and drink with the "Autofeed Crewmates" checkbox.
• If your ship has no storage rooms, thrusters or a bridge, you will become stranded. You have 30 seconds to re-add one of these parts to your ship before your crew dies.
